Brief biography of Diane Nelson

DIANE NELSON, PHD.

Biomedical Engineering | Carnegie Mellon University

Diane is a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow and Burroughs Welcome Fund Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Her research focuses on developing a delivery system for administering drugs directly to the lungs with better spatial uniformity and deeper penetration.
These efforts often rely on an interdisciplinary approach, including colloid chemistry, fluorine chemistry, interfacial phenomena, tissue engineering, microfluidics, fluid dynamics, drug delivery, and lung pathophysiology. A multifaceted engineer to say the least. Beyond her immediate background in biomedical engineering, her experience spans mathematics and colloidal and polymer science. Diane is a proud homeowner and, when not working in a lab, spends her time refurbishing her place for herself and her tenants.
